Middleweight Full Stack PHP Web Developer

£30,000 - £35,000

Let’s start with a bit about us

With a history rooted in exceptional design, Salad has evolved to offer a complete end-to-end brand and digital service. There’s a variety to our work which we love because it keeps the work fresh, it keeps us learning, and gives us insight into lots of different businesses and their markets. As a deliberately small team we thrive on work with real meaning and it’s important to us that the work we do is ethically sound.

We recognise that each person is an individual and we work to understand each of our motivations so that we can help our people grow and evolve in their role. Because quite simply, happy people make better work which equals better results.

We are 100% employee owned

After 20 years in business, in April 2021 we became 100% employee owned. Beyond the obvious financial benefits, which you will qualify for after one year of employment, this means you will have a genuine opportunity to contribute to the way the business is run and benefit from our successes.

In terms of those financial benefits, it’s still early days of our new ownership structure but within the first four months every person in the team saw the financial benefit of employee ownership, pretty much tax-free.

Life at Salad

We offer flexible working and while we have a beautiful office space overlooking the waters of Poole Harbour, the reality is most of us are predominantly working from home. To that end, we are open to those who may wish to work fully remotely.

A strong sense of team and a trusting, friendly culture are important to us and we work hard to maintain and foster this aspect to the business. We value meaningful connections, both internally as a team, as well as externally with our clients and suppliers. Because let’s face it, life is too short to work with people you don’t like.

The role

You will be responsible for creating beautiful, bespoke pixel-perfect websites and applications, as well as ongoing development projects for our clients. You will be an important part of our team of talented technologists, designers, project managers and strategists and your primary focus will be delivering excellent work that delights clients, your colleagues, and just as importantly, yourself. You’ll get to work on a variety of projects across the full stack of development, ranging from simple websites through to bespoke web applications and complex ecommerce enhancements. We are proud to build digital products that make a tangible difference to our clients and we’re looking for someone who shares this passion.

Necessary skills and attributes

You’ll be a good communicator with great attention to detail and able to build rapport with others. We’d like you to be highly organised and able to balance the need to produce beautiful code with delivering projects on time and to budget.

What drives us is the combination of culture, enjoying our work, working with people we like, as well as equitable financial reward.
