Our Approach

It’s really quite straightforward…

We’re a small studio

This allows us to be fast, collaborative and lean. A bit like a wolf. It also means that you don't have to fight your way through tiers of account execs and managers before you can have a chat to someone about a dodgy pantone colour.

Lawrence Donald

Habits Joining gyms
Likes 1980s BMWs
Dislikes Football
Strengths Chilli tolerance
Weaknesses Vinyl

Having worked in what I feel are the leading agencies in the area, Salad Creative was a great next step for me. I've been fortunate enough to work with a wide range of clients; from cool luxury brands through to the public sector and everything in-between.

I believe that beauty is in the detail and try to apply that to everything I do.

Dan Young

Habits Speaking in robotics
Likes Laughing in the face of danger
Dislikes Turkish Delight
Strengths Projecting a dull mild-mannered exterior
Weaknesses Overactive & inappropriate humour gland

The eldest of sixteen children, part-time lion tamer and little known inventor of the bra clasp mechanism, Dan is a multi-faceted member of the design team with a mild propensity for fabrication. Former head of the Salad school of Baristas, he now spends most of his time writing staff handbooks, photographing potential health & safety hazards and dictating a strict music policy.

Ian Elliot

Habits Thinking, adrenaline, tea, chocolate
Likes Things that are really well made (and power tools)
Dislikes Health and safety red tape, throw away culture
Strengths Boundless optimism, vision, wisdom (comes with age)
Weaknesses Left knee is a bit knackered

Finding sweet spots and mentoring brands with a wealth of experience behind us is incredibly rewarding. Who we are determines how we work, how we work determines the great people and businesses who become clients - a virtuous circle. Working with super-talented, passionate people is the best feeling in the world.

Charlie Simonds

Habits Big jewellery, lip balm, black
Likes Roller skates, cider, loud '70s rock
Dislikes White socks, coriander, drafts
Strengths Communication, healthy eating, acquiring out of print Gerald Durrell books
Weaknesses Dodgy eyesight, bent arm, metal ankle

Administrative magician Charlie is, let's face it, the glue that holds the Salad office together. Excellent at talking and even better at following obscure invoice related paper trails, she has also created a role for herself as Salad's resident grammar policeman and copy checker extraordinaire - anything to try and win back the respect of her colleagues following the 'I didn't find Anchorman funny' incident of 2013.

Habits Pen behind the ear, drinking ale or rum, watching films, playing football, singing when happy
Likes Jesus, Warren Buffet, Ferran Adria, sea swimming
Dislikes When his hair grows 'long', negativity
Strengths Working with children, working hard & playing hard, being short
Weaknesses Karaoke, dodgy hearing, talking too much

Andy is a qualified accountant who works as a part-time FD with the best creative companies to bring financial strategy, control and direction. Since moving to the south coast from Bath in 2013, he is delighted to have the opportunity to work with Salad! Also, having a cake-baking wife goes down well in the office!

James Lattimer

Habits Nice things on a plate
Likes A good debate
Dislikes Website bios
Strengths The ability to pluck mindless pieces of film trivia from the dark recesses of my mind
Weaknesses The inability to say no to the question "would you like another?"

In a world full of agency types constantly spouting 'marketing speak', we bring our clients a refreshingly down to earth practical approach to developing and delivering strategies that help grow their business. These strategies may or may not include an analogy about a slinky.

Rebecca Greenwood

Habits Buying glossy magazines and collecting Royal Family biscuit tins
Likes Champagne, running in the rain and Captain Von Trapp
Dislikes Marble floors and not being allowed a puppy
Strengths Organised, positive attitude and fishtail plaits
Weaknesses Pizza addiction (double pepperoni, little cheese)

I get a real buzz from providing clever and creative solutions for the great variety of projects that come through the doors at Salad. I'm a firm believer in the notion that hard work deserves rewards and as such, I always permit myself an extravagant fashion purchase after every successful project.

We love ideas

Everything starts with an idea. Sometimes it comes to us in an instant but more often than not, it takes a few cups of coffee and bit of head scratching before we reach the lightbulb moment. Only after we’ve come up with the outline of a concept do we get to break out the crayons and get on with the arty bit.

We create

Ideas are a crucial part of our overall process but if the application of these concepts isn’t up to scratch, the whole lot is worthless. Through carefully tailored design that is both beautiful and pertinent to the needs of our client, we breathe life into our very own creations and release them into the wild.
