Big Book of Bournemouth
Salad are thrilled to have been featured alongside a section of Dorset agencies in the recently published For the Record, a book which contains a section of the finest creative and digital talent on the South Coast.
In case you haven’t seen it, we thought we’d share the interview with our founder and Managing Director, Arabella Lewis-Smith here…
What do you do?
Salad is a boutique design agency that delivers intelligent and beautiful design. We believe innovative design is nothing if it doesn’t create real advantage for our clients.
Why would clients choose you?
Clients choose Salad because they value the power of our design, the open exchange of ideas, and our small team approach that delivers big ideas. We believe effective solutions can also be beautifully crafted experiences that grow value in our client’s products, services and brands.
What is your opinion on the future of “your” industry?
Good ideas will never become obsolete. We’ve seen many changes since founding Salad fifteen years ago, and of course our sector is constantly evolving and introducing new technologies. What we are certain of, however, is that good ideas, strategy and planning with a focus on quality and creativity will remain at the core of every project.
What will be the biggest threat or opportunity to your industry in the next 18 months?
As our industry develops more innovative ways to deliver messages across an ever-growing number of platforms, an opportunity clients are increasingly benefiting from is the impact traditional mediums can offer. A creative idea delivered by an exquisitely crafted printed mailing can achieve amazing results.
What’s the most exciting / interesting thing you’ve seen recently?
The look of delight on a client’s face when we presented a concept that was totally different to their initial brief, but completely answered their requirements in a way they had not foreseen, but absolutely loved. It reinforced my belief that to add true value an agency must push the creative boundaries.
Bournemouth is one of the UK’s top 10 digital hubs. Why do you think this is?
Bournemouth has an excellent talent pool plus a sense of co-operation within the creative community. I believe agencies here are more dedicated to working together to incubate and nurture talent. Quite simply, we understand that we are stronger together.
