Twinkling lights and fake snow

What better way to celebrate another year of teamwork than a night in one of the UK’s most picturesque cities.

Last year Salad headed to Madrid and the story of our festive weekend went viral, winning us an award for Best PR Campaign of 2018. This year, with some fantastic new recruits in tow we booked an evening in the beautiful city of Bath. With our best ever award-winning year and the launch of a number of large branding and digital projects, there was a lot to celebrate.

On Friday afternoon we closed the studio, hopped on-board the party bus and journeyed through the rolling Somerset hills to the luxurious Apex Hotel. Dashing past the 10ft Christmas tree and glittering lights in the foyer, we dropped off our bags and wrapped up warm for a trip into Bath’s award-winning Christmas market.

The city had transformed into a real-life snowglobe, complete with twinkling lights and fake snow. Bath’s Georgian architecture and famous golden-coloured stone surrounded the market chalets selling delights from truffles and brownie baubles to Bristol-made gin and handcrafted candles. Having chosen a few gifts and sipped on a mulled wine or two, we retreated to the hotel to transform into sequins and sparkles.

Next on the agenda – the Dark Horse. We took over a corner of the subterranean cocktail bar for a glass of champagne followed by some twists on the classics and some unusual but tantalising new mixology recipes.

For dinner, we headed to Ring O’Bells for a menu featuring wood pigeon and savoury doughnuts, traditional turkey roast and veal ossu bucco with sautéed chorizo. Once suitably wined, dined and filled with festive cheer, we ventured out to experience Bath’s nightlife and dance the night away.

It’s fair to say there were a fair few sore heads on Saturday morning.
