Purpose-built for real users: designed around how evaluators, members, and consultants actually work with the Code
More than digitisation: enhanced discoverability, contextual linking, and transparent access while maintaining the clarity of the original
WordPress & Drupal integration: a flexible platform designed to adapt as ISEAL’s digital ecosystem grows
The ISEAL Code of Good Practice for Sustainability Systems ‘the ISEAL Code’ is a globally recognised framework for strengthening the effectiveness of sustainability systems.
Until recently, it only existed as a static PDF or Excel file, was hard to navigate, difficult to update, and limiting for the stakeholders who rely on it.
From ISEAL members and consultants to independent evaluators and benchmarking initiatives, the people using the Code needed more than a document, they needed a tool that was more accessible and easy to navigate.

ISEAL approached us to help transform the Code from a basic document into a searchable, interactive and accessible online database. They wanted a platform that made it easy for users to find specific clauses, understand them in context, and access relevant supporting materials. It also needed to work seamlessly with ISEAL’s existing systems, provide different access levels for members and non-members, and maintain the clarity and simplicity the Code is known for.

Working closely with the ISEAL team, we designed and developed the feature-rich ISEAL Code website that balances structure, usability and function. The new site offers an intuitive interface that mirrors the layout of the original PDF while improving how information is displayed and explored. Each clause is clearly presented, with topic-based filtering and related links that help users find the guidance they need.
Built on WordPress, the platform integrates with ISEAL’s Drupal authentication system to support single sign-on and tiered member access. This allows logged-in users to view deeper content and documentation while keeping the core experience open and accessible to all. Additional features such as a mobile-responsive design, embedded resources, analytics tracking and secure hosting ensure the site remains reliable, future-proof and easy to maintain.

“The team at Salad were aligned with our vision for the ISEAL Code website from the start, which made it all the more rewarding when we finished building the final product. We were really impressed by how they were able to translate our technical content into something sleek and accessible for our stakeholders to explore in new ways. We’ve already received a lot of positive feedback on the website, and we look forward to the chance to collaborate with the team again for any future site improvements.”
By turning the ISEAL Code into a digital-first experience, we’ve helped ISEAL make the Code easier to use, explore and understand. The new platform empowers users with smarter ways to interact with the content, while enhancing transparency through direct links to related guidance materials. Member value has been strengthened through access to richer functionality, and the addition of analytics gives ISEAL greater insight into how the Code is being used across its community.
This is more than a digital upgrade. It’s a strategic step forward that helps ISEAL serve its global audience more effectively, while reinforcing its role as a leader in credible sustainability systems.

The ISEAL Code website is now a living, scalable resource that reflects the credibility and ambition of ISEAL itself. As both the sustainability landscape and stakeholder needs continue to evolve, the platform provides a strong foundation for future development, ensuring the Code remains as usable, transparent and influential as the systems it supports.
